The present work describes a didactic strategy guided by the Cuvima model to promote the understanding of the concept of quadratic function, due to the cognitive difficulty in the interpretation of its representations and the absence of teaching proposals that break the traditional schemes for the apprehension of the concepts. The proposal consists of introducing the quadratic function in its different representations from an experimental activity where the physical phenomenon of free fall is modeled by means of said function. A pre-test, activities and post-test were applied to high school students (between 14 and 15 years old) and later an analysis based on a mixed methodological approach was carried out. Results show that the development of didactic activities based on experimental modeling generated significant learning in the students, who went through the different registers of quadratic function representation giving it a meaning within Physics.
